Vintage Sheet Swap-Update

I am still waiting on about ten sets of FQ's to arrive for the swap. If you haven't sent yours yet, please let me know when to expect them.

It has been really fun to see all the different types of vintage sheets that have come in so far. Everyone has packaged their FQ's up nicely and a lot of you were very clever and sent a postage paid envelope for return shipping. Such a great idea!

A lot of you have also included little goodies for me, which I love. Thank You.
As soon as I receive the last few I will get them back to you in the mail.

Once you receive your FQ's back and make something out of them, I would love to see, so drop me a comment of email.

Have a great night!

Pregnancy Update-Week 34

With only 6 weeks left to go, I am starting to fret about delivery. THE PAIN............ Yikes! I did the other three without and Epidural, I hope I will be able to do it again.
I am also bugged, because we still have not firmed up her name.
The nursery is finished... still need to take photos!
36 pounds gained so far...YIKES again.

It is soooooo hot and humid here, I feel like I am going to BOIL! Chad is getting irritated with me because I keep turning down the AC, he swears his side of the bed is 62degrees! AHHH, our bedroom is nice and cool and I can actually sleep a bit between getting up to get a drink of H2O and going PEE a thousand times.
I try to get a nap in each afternoon while Graham is napping, that helps me get through the evening.

My belly seems really big all ready, 6 more weeks and it is going to be HUGE!

My friend Melissa took a picture like this of her belly and I thought it was so cute, I had to copy! She is having her baby girl tomorrow:)

Gabby not really wanting to be photographed!

Gwenzie Lou being cute!

I got Gwen to snap a couple photos. Chad stood still long enough to get about 5 pictures, he is soo patient!

Kisses from Big Brother

Gabby was the photographer for all of them except the one of our hands and the one of me and Gwen.

I hope the next 6 weeks are full of fun activities with the kids, lots of finished projects, a continued healthy pregnancy, not too much more weight gain and a NAME for this child!

Summer Fun

My parents generously gave the kids some "summer fun money", at least that is what we are calling it! So far we have had yummy ice cream after the library, gone to see "UP" as a family- we are lucky to have 3$ theaters here and we took the girls to the store to pick out a bunch of candy. It was a cute movie. Yesterday the kids and I had a Mcdonalds lunch and went to Michaels and bought supplies to tie dye, then over to Old navy to get T-shirts for the project. The girls have also used some of the money to go to our neighborhood pool as we decided not to join this year as I will NOT put my beached whale body in a swim suit in front of people! They have lots of places they want to go and projects they still want to do.

Here are our shirts hanging out to dry! Gabby's friend Emily made a shirt too.
From left to right: Emily's, Gwen's Graham's, Gabby's and my huge one. I bought a XXL at old navy thank goodness it is a long t-shirt. Mr. Chad is ANTI- Tie Dye.. He really dislikes it. We offered to do one of his old white t-shirts and he poo pooed the idea. Once he saw them today all done, he said" I guess you could have done an all blue one for me" MEN! We will take some photos in them on the 4th.

Today, the girls made play dough... and Graham and Gwen are playing nicely with it as I type. We are patiently waiting for our tomatoes to turn red, but Chad couldn't wait and picked one so I said: how about fried green tomatoes. He whipped some up to go with our dinner and they were YUMMY! Gwen made Popsicles or popsies as Graham calls them, we got a Popsicle holder at an estate sale yesterday for 50cents.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer too!

Book Review

I have been reading as usual, one of the books took me quite awhile though.

I just finished a book by: Sandra Brown called: A Whole New Light
It was a SUPER fast read, mostly because it was a mindless predictable romance. Not that it was bad, just predictable.

Before that I Read The Kite Runner by:Khaled Hosseini
It was an excellent book, set in Afghanistan. A lot of it was really sad, but really great. Makes you appreciate life in America.

The one that took me forever to read was World Without End by: Ken Follet.
It is a huge book, set in the 1300's when women were only good for a couple of things and were not allowed to have thoughts or do anything useful other than care for their man and have babies. It was a great historical fiction.

Just started reading "Three Cups of Tea" and am waiting for Finger Lickin Fifteen to come in the mail. Would love to know about some other good books, because my pile is empty after these two!

Happy Weekend!

Library Fun

Yesterday the kidos and I went to the local Library, it is a quaint little place that use to be the school house. Each room is a different section, I love the old vintage building, it is neeto!

Graham scoping out the books!

Being a wild man! The girls were never crazy like that!

Gwen reading one of the books she checked out. Gabby was with us, but was horrified at the thought of me taking her picture at the Library!

We stopped for ice cream at the little local parlor, it is super cute and vintagy!
Gwen is at the stage where she makes goofy faces in pictures, sheesh!
Graham was so excited when we arrived that he was shouting at the top of his lungs"ICE CREAM" from the front of the shop to the back. There were a couple of older men sitting there and they were cracking up!

Gwen is at least making a more normal face in this one. Gabby is wondering when she gets to give me back my cone and eat hers!

I am trying to get some fun activities in with the kidos before miss girlie girl arrives.

Sewing Projects

I finished the jumbo quilt top for the sew a long, I am supposed to be backing and quilting it. I have yet to find the right fabric for the back.

As always you can get a closer look by clicking on the picture!

I am nervous about quilting this one, it is HUGE!

A view from the back of the clothes line, it is too big to hang from the top, it would have been dragging on the ground!

Made these for baby girl. Another wash cloth and two onesies with ruffles added to the booty! How cute will she be in these!

I started this quilt in Napa before we left, I decided it needed to be finished.
It was originally supposed to be a Qwillow like the one I made Gabby, but decided to make it a regular quilt.

The colors are truer in this picture.

Folded up!

Close up .

I backed it in light blue star minky, because Graham loves minky! His Nigh Nigh blanket is backed with minky and he has to have his head on it when he sleeps.

I did some straight line quilting and some swirly stippling around the edges.

I did not really plan for it to be a comforter for his bed, but he wanted to sleep with it.
Sleeping peacefully under it as I type this!
See the black and white spots under his head, that is Nigh Nigh!

Have a great night!

100th post & other Random Stuff

Actually it is the 103rd post on this blog, and 291 between the three blogs(see side bar for old blogs). Pretty good I think considering it has only been a bit over a year and a half.

I meant to post for the 100th, just wasn't paying close enough attention. Since I missed the actual 100th, I think I will wait until I hit 300 total which is only 9 posts away. Anyone have any fun ideas for the 300th post?? A giveaway? a contest?

I got a lot done this weekend, just need to take some photos, it was too gray yesterday for photos. Today it is sunny, so I hope to find time to get some photos.

We still have made no decision on baby girls name, uggggg. We have added a couple that we like to the list. We have 7 weeks left, better make a decision soon:)

Happy Monday!

It Only Took 14 Weeks.....

To finish this blanket. I started knitting it right after we found out that this baby is a girl. I used a cotton yarn that is super soft and washable. I got the pattern off of knitting pattern central.
See, I really have been knitting. I am making her a matching hat and want to knit her a pair of the mary jane booties, link on the right of the blog.

Chad's response when I showed it to him: "COOL"
That is the response I get after 14 weeks of knitting! SHeesh
Gabby said "it's really pretty."
At least someone liked it.
Maybe it will be baby girls favorite.

A close up of the diamond pattern. I originally couldn't decide between this pattern and a more lacy open one, but Chad had an opinion about that. He like a solid blanket that your toes doesn't get caught in!

Sorry for the bad light, it has been gray and rainy the last two days! Great way to start summer vacation.

Sew a Long Update

Here is my quilt top all laid out ready and waiting to be sewn. This is my dinning room floor, I had to push my table out of the way to make room for this jumbo quilt.

It is going to be a queen size for our bed. I actually got two rows sewn together this afternoon.

A close up.
We are supposed to be quilting at this point, so maybe I will get caught up this week.
Wish me luck!

Champions

Last weekend the girls had their Softball tournament. Both girls won their division, they are champions:) I have pictures of Gabby's team, but not of Gwen's. I was a bad mama and didn't have my camera.

Gabby is top row second to the left!

Gab is second from the right.
The girls had a ton of fun.
If someone emails me photos of Gwen, I will post them!

Quilt

I started this quilt months ago, even before we found out we were having a girl. You can find the tutorial on Moda Bake Shop.

I used swell charm packs.
I love the vintage feel of that fabric.

Even Chad showed some interest in this one, he actually asked me questions about it. He also pointed out the different fabric he likes. Which tells me I did good:)

Backed in an aqua toile. Machine stippled, only the second time I have done that. I have noticed though that experienced quilters stippling is a little more regular and loopy.

I am super happy with how it turned out.
It is now in baby girls basket waiting for her to arrive!

Finished Baby Bedding

I finally finished baby girls bedding! I love how it turned out, it is super shabby chic. The bumper was a bit of a pain to make, because once again I decided to make it difficult. I added ruffles to the top and made the ties extra large! I purchased the ruffler foot for my machine and that made the whole thing go a lot faster, wish I had purchased it before I made the comforter and the skirt. It would have saved me a lot of time. OH well!

As always you can click to make larger!

When I show Chad a finished project he usually just says nice or some other comment that shows he looked but isn't all that impressed. For this one he actually thought it was pretty and said" sad that you didn't make the bedding for the other three."
I will not be doing crib bedding again, it is a lot of work!

Inside shot, with little pillow case.

The lighting in that room is terrible no matter what time of day I take pics, so annoying.
The room is almost done, I am still finishing up the writing on her side and need some accessories for her side, it is kind of bare.

Have a great night!
