Hot Dogs with a Twist

I saw this done on a couple of other blogs and thought the kids would dig it. Can not remember which blogs I saw it on to give credit for the idea. SORRY:(

Wormy Hot dogs is what I told the kids they were.

stupid blurry picture:(

Super easy to make, cut up your hot dogs into thirds and stick a few pieces of raw spaghetti through the hot dog. Boil and voila you have wormy hot dogs!

Gabby LOVED them, Graham Liked them and Gwen thought they were OK. Next time I am going to let them do it since they love to cook and it was a fun project.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday weekend. Ours has been filled with packing, and organizing for the move. NOT FUN, but necessary!

Goat Cheese

Sunday afternoon we headed off to the Goat Lady Dairy in Climax, which was about a 25 minute drive. The farm was having a open house and being the goat cheese loving family that we are, we had to go.

The kidos feeding the goats, leaves and turnip greens.

Graham and Gwen.

Gabby helping Graham feed the goats.

We visited and pet the chickens, feed the goats, wandered through the garden and sampled the super yummy cheese. They had about 10 different types, we bought the plain and the dill/chive combo. We are going to have it for dinner tomorrow night:) Thank goodness it is pasteurized or I would not be able to eat it for about three more months.
A very fun family outing!

Aspiring Chef..

My little Gwen wants to be a chef when she grows up. She started watching the food network when she was 3. She wants to help cook at every opportunity and I try to let her as often as possible.

Almost every Sunday we do Family Sunday breakfast. This morning I got the rare chance to sleep in. Gwen came in and asked if she could make breakfast. "Sure" I said while still asleep.
This is what I got for breakfast.

Not only is it pretty, but it was yummy too. The omelet was bacon and cheese filled. According to Chad, she grated the cheese, microwaved the bacon and made the HUGE 4 egg omelet her self. Chad did have to help fold it over for her. The berried were freshly picked by us yesterday, whip cream was freshly whipped up last night for shortcakes. I made the biscuit looking thing last night for shortcakes. BTW she is only 9!

The Simple Things......

Make my family happy. A month ago Chad's old boss and good family friend came to NC for business and took Chad and I out to a really nice dinner. Over dinner we discussed all sorts of things, including missing great wine and REAL sourdough bread. For some reason you can not get good chewy sourdough bread here.

Art, said he would have to send us some sourdough, and true to his word,
this is what arrived today by second day air. Just in time for dinner.

Chad was hovering over me while I was taking pictures so he could slice off the heel and enjoy. The girls were so excited too, they both said "real sourdough bread, yeah!" We enjoyed half of one of the loaves at dinner, I am pretty sure the other one and a half will not make it through the weekend.

This post is making me want to go slice a piece right now, but I will be good since it is 11pm.
Off to bed!
