Who Does Painting Projects..When They Should Be Packing?

If you guessed me...you were right...
I went to michaels yesterday and found magnetic paint in Martha's new paint line....I really wanted to use magnetic paint for Scarlette's whole fridge on the play kitchen we made her...but it is $25 a quart.... which is almost as much as we have spent on whole project...but when I found it yesterday for $4.99 for a small container I decided to make her menu board magnetic...

I will reveal whole kitchen when we are completely done..still adding finishing touches. Going to paint the frame in picture....any thoughts on color?

Packing time:)

I Built Something With Wood

There is this web site called Knock-offwood.com and on it there are all these amazing thing built from wood by a woman.  She generously shares her plans with the world for free.  So, a few months ago I saw a little kids picnic table on her site and decided the littles needed one.  Asked my friend Keith if he wanted to mke it for me and he really didn't...  So Tiffanie and I decided we would do it our selfs!

Yesterday was the day!

Taught yoga at 9, then met Tiffanie at Home Depot at 10:40.....

The fun stuff on the cart... looked kind of pathetic before we got the wood on it.
Tiffanie checking the wood to make sure it was not warped.

We headed back to Tiffanie's house because her hubby Keith has the tools.

Me using the saw... pretty fun!
Tiff and I did 95% of the cutting, Keith helped us with a couple of cuts.

 Tiffanie's Turn at the saw.
The faces I was making crack me up!
This is when we were cutting the angles... team work to make sure we hit the mark exactly.
Keith offering me advice on an easier way to attach the table support to the top.
Tiff drilling holes. We did all of the drilling and 95% of the screws too:) Keith had to help with a few and we let him because it was getting late in the day.  We started about 1pm and I got home at almost 8pm.

 Our foreman hard at work.
Tatum had to make sure we were doing a good job!
Keith was trying to fix a screw that Tiff put in a  little too far:)
The finished product!
I have to say I am super impressed with us, and the table... as you can see it is sturdy and we modified it a bit, we took the corners off the table and the benches because it looks cute. We primed it last night and now I am  going to pop over there so we can paint it!  Can't wait to show you the finished product!
Thanks for the help Tiff and Keith!

Projects

This weekend we did a lot of projects, some are completed and others are in various stages. I really wanted to get them ALL done, not going to happen with a 2yr old crazy boy under foot.

1. Baby/Grahams furniture painted: Still need to paint the knobs for Grahams dresser and the drawers of the changing table.

2. Custom ordered blankie for my friend Alicia(in CA): Finished, now need to package and ship in the am. Love this pale blue gingham, it is so soft and cuddly. I wish the pink gingham was not a crazy bright color.

3. Started a quilt for Gwen's bed: Quilt top sewn and waiting for backing.

A close up. I love these fabrics sooo much.

4. Lettering on Baby girls side of the room: I used too light of a paint color so now have to finish going over it with a darker pink. UGGGGG This photo is of the part I went over with the darker pink.

5. Black and white collages for Gab's room: Finished now I need to hang them. She has the black and white scrolly bedding from Target, so I thought it would be fun to have some black and white pictures on the wall. These frames were originally gold, they are that funny vintage plastic, so I sprayed them black. I used vintage sheet music for the back ground.

6. Wash cloths/Burpie: Finished a couple wash cloths for baby girl, still have a couple more to finish. They are terry cloth on one side and fabric on the other. I had to make my self one of the cherry burpies, it is a bit smaller than the ones in the shop, I used the scraps I had laying around.

7. Extra crib sheet: Finished WOO HOOO. Still need to make two more, just need to find fabric I like. The other items are for me, see next picture!

8. Breast pads: I made my self two sets of reusable breast pads. The blue ones are one layer of vintage sheets, one layer of cotton batting, and two layers of flannel. The other one has rose flannel on the outside. I may make more if I like the way they work!

9. Burpies for the shoppe: finished..... until I make the next batch. Now need to get them in the shoppe. These will be sold in a set of two.

Monkey fabric on a cloth diaper. So cute!

Doggie burp cloth set.

10. Peach baby quilt: I made this awhile ago and it actually looks better in the pic than it does in real life. The scallops are not perfect and there is so bunching in a few places and it came out smallish. I will still use it!

All in all it was a productive weekend. I really wanted to have the baby's/Graham's room completed other than finishing touches, clearly that did not happen. Haven't even cut out the bumper for the crib! Maybe I will make progress this week.

Happy Memorial Day!

Another Sneak Peek

Here is a little peek at what I have been working on in Graham and the baby's room. I still have to do the first part of the saying and baby girls side. I have to be in the mood to do it because I am doing it free hand. I found a font I like online and just looked at it to make the letters.
I am happy with how it is turning out. I picked a font that is more boyish for his side and for her side I am going to do a frilly girlie font.

Eventually you will get to see the whole room:)
Have a great night!

Weekend Accomplishments

I got a bunch of small projects done this weekend.
I finally put the Easter decorations away.
I made some strawberry jam.
We went for a family bike ride, which was tougher than I thought. We live in a hilly neighborhood and on the uphills, my knees kept running into my belly!
We got the rest of our garden planted.
Listed the items from Friday's Estate sale in the Shoppe.

Here is the before picture of my family room curtains. I made them this winter when it got super cold. We had not had anything on the window until then. I made them from a vintage bedspread, for the weight to keep the cold out. They worked good, but I hated the way they looked.

Here is the after. I got these panels at a yard sale last weekend, see this post. They were 50cents each. They were not hemmed, so during the week I washed, ironed and hemmed them. The problem was they also needed another seam along the top so there was a ruffle. I had to rip out one of the seams and redo it because I didn't measure correctly! OOPsie

Before.
I have a bunch of these, I have a aqua on in my guest room, a pink one in my sewing room and a couple others in boxes. I spray painted this one white.

After.

Now hanging in Grahams room, perfect place for his hats. Hopefully he will not break it!

Not huge projects, but they are all done!
I have some other big ones to tackle, we shall see how quickly I get them done:)

Thank You

I want to thank every one for the suggestions for my crazy climbing son:) After a hellish night Friday, where Graham climbed out of his crib 50 million times and I got no sleep. I went to Baby Depot and I purchased one of the net tents the goes over the crib and it works wonderfully. He doesn't even hate it and he is back to sleeping like a normal person, PHEWWWWW! Next project to tackle is the binki removal. I am not quite ready to take this one on yet, but will be soon:)

I have been working on some knitting projects and an embroidery project. I will take some pictures in the next day or so. I will also be adding some vintage sheet fat quarter packets to the shoppe after I get some good photos!

Have a great day!

XOXO Jen
