New House - Sneak Peak

We were over at the new house today... and I took a few photos... which I am sharing now, because it may be awhile before we are settled enough to show pics on the blog.

Living room... Love the built ins!!!!

Laundry and sewing room..... yes the fabric will fill every shelf!

Dining room built ins.

The house has lots of natural light which I am very happy about and is in an actual neighborhood.... did I mention it is darling and vintage.

Another Move For the Smith Family.

We will be moving across town on Feb. 1st.  This will be the 11th move Chad and I have made since 1993, and we are not even a military family.  I am happy about the new house... but not about moving... so much work!  We are moving to a vintage farm house.. wooo hooo!  It is a lot bigger!  We are currently squished into 1670 sq feet and now will be in 2400sq feet... which is a much better size for a family of six.  Kids will still be sharing rooms, but I will have a dedicated sewing room and the kids will have a play room! YEA... no more toys all over our living space.  No more pool, which is a happy/sad kind of thing.  we will miss it desperately this summer... but not the expense.  We know this is not our last move, but we hope to stay put for a couple of years at least.  I am super excited about decorating the new house.. because it is soo charming.... there will be pictures:)

Stay tuned!

Happy 4th

Originally I had planned on having a picture of us in our shirts. We got to the local parade this am at 10 and plopped down on our red chenille blanket and got ready to take a picture and ... the battery in the camera was dead! So no cute family photo from the parade.

Instead a few decorations.

My printers box. So much fun to decorate, and I am always on the look out for tiny little things to fit in it!

Top of m pie safe.
I made the cross stitch sampler years ago, perfect for the 4th.
I am not loving this vignette, because I do not have many 4th colored decorations.

Flags!

Last year I was part of a 4th of July swap and I received this darling banner.

Hope everyone has a fantastic and safe 4th.
Maybe I will get a photo of us later today!

Choosing Paint Colors

Graham and the baby will be sharing a room, because there is only one bedroom on the same floor as us and Graham is too little to be upstairs with the girls. Too far from Mommy in the middle of the night. Fortunately, Grahams room is a nice sized room.

We are starting the makeover on Graham's room this weekend. We will be painting the walls and the ceiling. Being that we are having a girl I decided to go with a neutral color for the walls.

How I choose a paint color:

Step one: Go to a paint store where they have the small sample size paint so you don't have to buy a whole quart just to test the paint.

Step Two: Take home a couple of sample sizes ans test them on different walls so you can see how the lighting affects the color. To me, this is super important. The paint always looks different on the wall than on the tiny paint swatch. The lighting of your room affects the paint color a lot.

Step Three: Let it dry

Step Four: Look at the colors throughout the day so you can see if you like a certain color as the light changes.

Step Five: Make a decision. If you don't LOVE any of the colors, START OVER from step one.

Step Six: Buy paint and get it on the walls:)

One wall in Graham's room where I am testing colors.

Another wall of color testing. Chad and I agreed on one, not going to tell which one, you will have to wait and see when we are done:)
However, I do have to start over with the ceiling. I want to paint it pale sky blue, I picked a couple of colors and they are too dark, so back to the paint store tomorrow.

Off to bed now!

Snow Day

We got a real snow finally, not that I am thrilled to have snow in March. But the kids have been dieing for snow they could sled in. The girls were outside at 8 am this morning. Graham and I went out about 9:30, we had to eat breakfast first. We got about 3-4" so Chad took my car to work today as it is 4 wheel drive and his Acura needs new tires.

You can click on the photos to make them larger.

Gab and Graham Sledding. Graham loved it.

Thank goodness Gab could take him sledding, since it is not a recommended activity for the prego mom.

MY BOY!
Yes, he is wearing the pink pants again and even pink gloves. He doesn't care:)
