My Pseudo Sewing Room

For the first time in about 7.5 years I do not have my very own sewing room....SNIFF  We are living in a pretty small house for the amount of people and stuff we have, so I have had to get creative.  A lot of my sewing stuff is in totes and organized on shelves in the garage.  Which is hard for me because I like to see what I have, or I forget about it.  So I decided I needed a place for my fabric to be inside where I can see it.

I turned half of my entry closet into sewing headquarters.  I found the shelf at a garage sale a couple of weekends ago.  I wasn't even on my way to yard sales, I was running errands and saw a sale, so I pulled over.  I spotted the shelf right away, it is super chippy.  I asked the lady how much and she said 10$, so I stared at it for about 10 minutes then left, drove around the block and decided I wanted it.  It was worth it for the amount of storage it gives me.

The brown doors on the right of the photo are my front doors, ignore the ugly rug it is temporary.
The right half of the closet is packet full of coats.

The top shelf of the closet (which you can not see) is currently holding photos and albums,I hope to find some where else for them to go, so I can put more sewing stuff up there.

I also hung a hook on the left side (low) for my purse to hang on.

Multifunction and making do with what I have is the name of the game.

Vintage Sheet Fat Quarter Swap-Deux

I am finally settled enough to host another vintage sheet FQ swap. The last one was a ton of fun and so many great FQ's were swapped!
There are sooo many things you can do with vintage sheets, the ideas are endless.

Here is a button to add to your blog.
Right click on it
save it to your computer
remember where you saved it
and add it to your blog.

Send: between 5 and 20 Vintage Sheet Fat Quarters.(18"x21") to me and I will then send you back the same amount of different Fat Quarters as you sent. ***EDITED:Please use at least TWO different sheets, we like variety. No sheets newer than the 80's, no character sheets and lets stick with cotton.  Also, make sure to wash the sheets and pick sheets that are not too worn out.
Please attach a note of some kind with your full name, address, email address and how many FQ's you sent, this helps me keep organized.****
Please, send  a return envelope with postage attached.  Here is my suggestion: get one of the flat rate envelops the postage is about $4.95 and you can stuff it full:)
There were a few people who had their sheets tied with tags that had their name and blog address, I love this idea, that way you might get some new blog readers... not mandatory though.

I won.......

Posts are going to be pretty short and sweet for a bit as I am enjoying little miss Scarlette:)

Last week I won a give away on Ucreate, just for being a follower. This is what I won:

Picture from Ucreate web site, too lazy to take my own photos.

A charm pack of darling fabric. Not my usual style, but I really love it.
Especially after I saw this tutorial.

This photo is from the above tutorial and is one item I am going to make with this fabric.
Need to find a plain white shirt for Graham.
I will still have a ton left over, who knows what it will become!

Happy Saturday!

Yard Sale Finds

Saturday Graham and I had some errands to run so we decided to stop at a yard sale since it had been FOREVER since we had been to one:) We got there at towards the end of the sale, so I am sure we missed some good stuff. I did get a couple of things though!

One vintage curtain tie back. Not sure what I am going to do with it but it is so pretty and only 50cents I couldn't pass it up.

A vintage curtain panel. I don't plan on using it on a window, but I love the fabric. Who knows what I will use it for.

This pretty piece of fabric is HUGE, it is probably a queen size piece of fabric. It is very heavy, so I am thinking I will use it for the back of a picnic quilt I have been wanting to make. I have been saving everyones worn out jeans for the last few years to make a quilt with. So worth it for 1$.

I am sure no one is in a Christmas mood, but these are tiny vintage Santa mugs so I had to grab them. I have two all ready so I will be adding these to the shoppe. If you have to have them let me know!

I also got some light weight curtain panels for my family room, they are in the wash/Iron stage so I will show a pic when I get them up.

Off to make dinner.

Happy Mail

Last week I had a full mailbox. I received the fabric for the baby's bedding, and the lovely items below.

I participate in a quarterly fat quarter swap, the theme this time was spring. My partner knows I love roses. I love everything.

I also received this just in time for Easter. I won it in a giveaway. The funny thing is it was on the blog of one of my friends from Napa. Lisa makes amazing scrapbooks check her blog out here.

Time for knitting and relaxing.
Have a good evening.

Sneak Peek

Here is a sneak peek of what baby girls bedding is being made with. I ordered the fabric from a super sweet lady who has a beautiful shop and an ebay store. Click photos to enlarge.

I LOVE the fabric, it is super soft cotton.
Yes, I am using all of it for her bedding:)

The lady knew I was making crib bedding and she sent me this darling bib.

Another peek.... her crib set up in the freshly painted room.
Sorry for the bad lighting..... I took it at 8pm tonight!
I actually put the crib together on Easter evening. I didn't want to ask Chad because he painted the room earlier in the day. He asked me" Do we really need the crib in the room NOW?"
"Yes" I said.
He says" Can we not put it in there in July?"
"NO, I need to do it now." He thinks I am crazy!
You would think he would understand nesting by now, plus I still have the energy.

Flash picture: so you can see the lovely bed skirt I made. It would have been really fast to make if I had followed the pattern. But I decided to make the skirt longer and add a ruffle to the bottom, so it took me twice as long as it should have. I am still thinking about adding another layer, we shall see.

Off to bed!
