Some things I've made and baby update

Baby will be here before we know it, and the kids start school in 13 days. And I'm not really ready for either.  But I have made a few fun things lately, not as many as I would like....but better than nothing at all.

Whipped up this hat last night for our soon to be little pumpkin. Who btw still has no name! It's crochet and was super fast to make .. The pattern can be found on my pinterest board titled crochet.

I am now selling these darling laser cut wooden necklaces and magnets in my shop!

I whipped up this vintage sheet bunting a week ago.. Love how it looks in my shop window.   Thinking about making some for fall.

The beginning stages of the nursery makeover.  It's still in progress.. Which is making me nervous with only 7 weeks until my due date.

I will try to post more nursery photos as soon as we get it done.

And here's a belly shot from a few weeks ago.

I've been wanting to do a post for such a long long time. I finally just made my self do a quick one with whatever photos I have on my phone.

After & Before

This is the big girls room after we painted it...the other three walls are grey...its pretty bright but really cute....and this is before I take down all the mirrors and frames so we can move. I sprayed all the mirrors and frames antique white..so they are an after as well. The frames were originally gold. Ok, back to packing.

Before & After & a Question.

Something I swore I would never hang on my walls...... and now I have. That being said I foo fooed them up a bit. I have seen antlers all over the place and when I was at the Flea market a couple of weekends ago, I saw a pink pair... so I knew that when I got a pair... they too would be pink. My friend Darian knew I wanted some, and her Dad happened to have quite a few... so he donated these to me.  Pretty sure there will be some hunters cringing over this:)

BEFORE

And......

AFTER... A light coat of pink spray paint!!
I can not wait for another holiday so I can hang ornaments from them... How cute will that be... EEEK

I feel like they need something still.... mounted on a plaque? Cover the head part with fabric?
So my question is.... Leave them as is or....... what do you think they need???

Wendy and I decided we would pack up pictures and frames.
We grabbed two boxes.....do you think they will all fit in these two?
YIKES!

Who knew I had so many pictures.
The sad thing is I all ready packed a dozen!

Better get back to helping Wendy Lou with packing the pictures!

Baby Bedding

Baby girls bedding is almost done, just have to make the bumper pad. I have been procrastinating on making it because I am thinking it is going to take a bit of time, especially since I want to add a ruffle. I am working up to it, I want to finish the writing on the wall this weekend and get the furniture painted. Chad said he will help paint, yippeee!!!

Finished her crib comforter, the ruffle took forever, ugg. It looks really pretty so I guess it is worth it!

A little closer view.

I know this is a lot of pictures of the same thing, but was having a hard time getting a good shot of the comforter and showing the colors accurately!

The crib sheet is not in the fabric I had originally purchased, because the pattern I was using gave me incorrect measurements. UGG So, instead of paying shipping on more fabric, I decided to go to TJ Maxx and buy a set of twin sheets. I was able to get two sheets and a mini pillow case out of it and lots of fabric left over for other small projects. I still love the original fabric and am sad to not have it for the sheet. I did use it for the inside of the diaper stacker and may incorporate it into another project in the room, we shall see.

More Sneak Peeks

Here are a few more pictures of completed parts of the Baby's/Grahams room.

Here is the diaper stacker I made for baby girls side of the room. It is not a traditional diaper stacker, but it is so much cuter. I actually have a couple made for the shoppe but have not photographed them yet. The cool thing is they are reversible and hanging on a vintage baby hanger. I have one I use for Grahams Jumbo diapers and it holds about 30-40 diapers, so I am guessing it will hold a billion of the itty bitty cute newborn ones!

A closer picture of the pretty fabric.

On Grahams side I finished his curtains and the writing on the wall. You can also see his lovely crib tent. So attractive! The curtains had to be short on his side because the window is up high and I was afraid he would be able to pull on them from his crib! He makes me read the writing on his wall to him.

We had two matching curtain rods that we brought with us however one was missing the finials. I was trying to decide what to do about it when I realized I have 6 blue vintage(looking) dresser knobs off of the changing table. So my clever hubby added the knobs to each end of the rod. I love the way it turned out and now I want pink ones for her side, too bad I don't have any!

The next night I said Chad's favorite phrase " I have an idea". My idea was to use two more of the knobs for curtain tie back holders. The screws that look pretty don't work in the dry wall so we had to use regular screws, but it still looks cute to me. I made the cute doggy tie backs from some fabric I had. I love how they turned out, especially since I just made up the style of the tie back out of my head.

There will be more to come and eventually a before and after of the room when we get it finished. Still have to do the lettering on her side, paint the dresser, changing table and book shelf. I am also still finishing the bedding, had a minor problem with the crib sheet. More on that later too.

Another Sneak Peek

Here is a little peek at what I have been working on in Graham and the baby's room. I still have to do the first part of the saying and baby girls side. I have to be in the mood to do it because I am doing it free hand. I found a font I like online and just looked at it to make the letters.
I am happy with how it is turning out. I picked a font that is more boyish for his side and for her side I am going to do a frilly girlie font.

Eventually you will get to see the whole room:)
Have a great night!

Choosing Paint Colors

Graham and the baby will be sharing a room, because there is only one bedroom on the same floor as us and Graham is too little to be upstairs with the girls. Too far from Mommy in the middle of the night. Fortunately, Grahams room is a nice sized room.

We are starting the makeover on Graham's room this weekend. We will be painting the walls and the ceiling. Being that we are having a girl I decided to go with a neutral color for the walls.

How I choose a paint color:

Step one: Go to a paint store where they have the small sample size paint so you don't have to buy a whole quart just to test the paint.

Step Two: Take home a couple of sample sizes ans test them on different walls so you can see how the lighting affects the color. To me, this is super important. The paint always looks different on the wall than on the tiny paint swatch. The lighting of your room affects the paint color a lot.

Step Three: Let it dry

Step Four: Look at the colors throughout the day so you can see if you like a certain color as the light changes.

Step Five: Make a decision. If you don't LOVE any of the colors, START OVER from step one.

Step Six: Buy paint and get it on the walls:)

One wall in Graham's room where I am testing colors.

Another wall of color testing. Chad and I agreed on one, not going to tell which one, you will have to wait and see when we are done:)
However, I do have to start over with the ceiling. I want to paint it pale sky blue, I picked a couple of colors and they are too dark, so back to the paint store tomorrow.

Off to bed now!

Mini Makeover

I decided to work on the main bathroom a bit, because it is an eyesore. Without a total remodel it is still not the best, but I used what I had to make it a bit better. Maybe the cute stuff will detract attention from the hideous avocado green and harvest gold tile.

At our house in Napa our main bath was super shabby chic, pale pink, white and soft blue and green. I loved it! Unfortunately I had to go a different direction with this one for two reasons, one, the hideous tile and two this is the bathroom Graham uses. So I thought I should make it a bit less frou frou. I went with a vintage beach theme.

When we moved in there was no mirror so we used one that we had been using on my bedroom vanity. I bought that oar at an estate sale months ago and it has sat in a corner in the bathroom waiting for hubby to hang it up. I think he was inspired to do it because I made new curtains.
I think the oar looks cute above the mirror. I really want to paint, we'll see if I get a bee in my bonnet.

This is the before of the hideous shade. It has literally been there since 1970 when the house was built. If you click on it to get a closer view, you can see where the fringe was ripped off and they taped the tears with scotch tape. Gab is going through a modest stage and has to have it down to use the bathroom, even though there is no one to see in. The shade made it like a dungeon, beside being UGLY! I can't believe it has taken me a year to do this. SHEESH.

Here is the after. So much better. No exactly what I had in mind, but i used what I had and am happy with the results. It is no longer an dungeoneous eye sore. It makes me more motivated to paint seeing all the white.

Have a wonderful day.
