Potty Training

Yesterday I finally decided to get serious about potty training the boy. With only 10 weeks to go until baby girl arrives, I thought I better get on the ball. He has been doing really well. Only a couple minor incidents. I pretty much have let him run around naked the last two days, and it seems to make him aware of the need to go. I never did this with the girls, but had a few people recommend this method and it seems to be working. We only used one diaper at nap time today.

Here he is in his new boxer briefs, how stinken cute is he.

I can't believe how big he looks, sure looks bigger than a 2 1/2 year old.
I was trying to get him to show his cute booty to the camera, this is the closest we got!

I know there will be missteps along the way, but so far so good!

Projects

This weekend we did a lot of projects, some are completed and others are in various stages. I really wanted to get them ALL done, not going to happen with a 2yr old crazy boy under foot.

1. Baby/Grahams furniture painted: Still need to paint the knobs for Grahams dresser and the drawers of the changing table.

2. Custom ordered blankie for my friend Alicia(in CA): Finished, now need to package and ship in the am. Love this pale blue gingham, it is so soft and cuddly. I wish the pink gingham was not a crazy bright color.

3. Started a quilt for Gwen's bed: Quilt top sewn and waiting for backing.

A close up. I love these fabrics sooo much.

4. Lettering on Baby girls side of the room: I used too light of a paint color so now have to finish going over it with a darker pink. UGGGGG This photo is of the part I went over with the darker pink.

5. Black and white collages for Gab's room: Finished now I need to hang them. She has the black and white scrolly bedding from Target, so I thought it would be fun to have some black and white pictures on the wall. These frames were originally gold, they are that funny vintage plastic, so I sprayed them black. I used vintage sheet music for the back ground.

6. Wash cloths/Burpie: Finished a couple wash cloths for baby girl, still have a couple more to finish. They are terry cloth on one side and fabric on the other. I had to make my self one of the cherry burpies, it is a bit smaller than the ones in the shop, I used the scraps I had laying around.

7. Extra crib sheet: Finished WOO HOOO. Still need to make two more, just need to find fabric I like. The other items are for me, see next picture!

8. Breast pads: I made my self two sets of reusable breast pads. The blue ones are one layer of vintage sheets, one layer of cotton batting, and two layers of flannel. The other one has rose flannel on the outside. I may make more if I like the way they work!

9. Burpies for the shoppe: finished..... until I make the next batch. Now need to get them in the shoppe. These will be sold in a set of two.

Monkey fabric on a cloth diaper. So cute!

Doggie burp cloth set.

10. Peach baby quilt: I made this awhile ago and it actually looks better in the pic than it does in real life. The scallops are not perfect and there is so bunching in a few places and it came out smallish. I will still use it!

All in all it was a productive weekend. I really wanted to have the baby's/Graham's room completed other than finishing touches, clearly that did not happen. Haven't even cut out the bumper for the crib! Maybe I will make progress this week.

Happy Memorial Day!

Baby Bedding

Baby girls bedding is almost done, just have to make the bumper pad. I have been procrastinating on making it because I am thinking it is going to take a bit of time, especially since I want to add a ruffle. I am working up to it, I want to finish the writing on the wall this weekend and get the furniture painted. Chad said he will help paint, yippeee!!!

Finished her crib comforter, the ruffle took forever, ugg. It looks really pretty so I guess it is worth it!

A little closer view.

I know this is a lot of pictures of the same thing, but was having a hard time getting a good shot of the comforter and showing the colors accurately!

The crib sheet is not in the fabric I had originally purchased, because the pattern I was using gave me incorrect measurements. UGG So, instead of paying shipping on more fabric, I decided to go to TJ Maxx and buy a set of twin sheets. I was able to get two sheets and a mini pillow case out of it and lots of fabric left over for other small projects. I still love the original fabric and am sad to not have it for the sheet. I did use it for the inside of the diaper stacker and may incorporate it into another project in the room, we shall see.

Weekend Find

There are always a ton of yard/garage sales on craigslist and last weekend was no exception. I try to be picky as I don't want to drive all over town and back and I want vintage goodies.
I went to the one in our neighborhood, it was pathetic. Then we went to one that was nearby and said vintage. She had some really nice stuff, but was asking a lot for most items. The one item I really wanted was a vintage wooden doll house, it was 45$ not going to happen. I have always wanted a doll house and someday I WILL have one:)
I only got one treasure, check it out!

It is so shabby and chippy I just love it. The frame is missing a few pieces and the print is rumpled and the backing is showing through in the bottom right corner. BUT I love it anyway! The colors are perfect, and it has roses on it, what more could I ask for.

It is now hanging above my bed. It is huge and my bedroom was sooo bare before. It is the one room in the house I never seem to get to. However when I bought it I had no idea where I was going to put it, I just knew I loved it and would find a place for it!

BTW- I use the vintage bed light every night while I read! My mom and grandma bought it for me quite a few years ago and I love it! Wish the cord was tucked behind the bed like it is supposed to be. Oh well! Apparently I need to straighten the picture out too, sheesh the things you notice in photos!

Off to knit!

Childs Apron

Graham was invited to a birthday party for one of the little boys in his preschool class. I tried to come up with a gift I could make for a two year old boy. I really wanted to make a super hero cape, but much to my dismay, I did not have the right fabric for the project. I finally decided to make an apron. My hubby and sister were not thrilled with the apron idea, but I went ahead with it anyway.

Here is my little man modeling it! If you make it bigger you can see the pocket has vintage cowboys on it. Graham of course wanted to keep it, so now I need to make him one. I stuck a few kids cooking utensils in half of the pocket and in the other side I stuck a small pad of drawing paper and crayons. I figured I better add the art supplies in case the parents were weirdos like my hub and sis. Graham loves to help in the kitchen and up until I make him his own apron he has been wearing girlie vintage ones.

Off to bed, and tomorrow I get to do the dreaded glucose test.... bleck!

Belly Update

Here are a few photos of the belly at 28 weeks. I can't believe there are only 12 weeks left to go, I better hurry up and get my projects done!

Could my arms and legs be any whiter, they practically glow in the dark!

Enjoy your evening!
